Last Thursday Sir Topham Hatt was at Two Harbors city hall to receive the key to the city from mayor Lew Conner.The beloved steam engine, Thomas the Tank Engine will return to the northland this August with train rides on the North Shore Scenic Railroad. This year’s Day Out With Thomas will be back in Two Harbors on the first two weekends in August (8/2-3 & 4 and 8/9-10 & 11). The #1 engine from the Island of Sodor will be giving rides to all his friends departing from the Depot in downtown Two Harbors and the railroad’s Controller, Sir Topham Hatt, will also be there to ensure everyone is SAFE and has a good time. Ken Buehler, director of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth, said, “We added a year in Two Harbors because we found it was the perfect place for Thomas, with a grassy field and Lake Superior behind, people commented it was like a country carnival with Thomas.”Sensory Friendly Day with accommodations for families who have a member with autism is set for Monday August 8, 2024. FREE tickets for the event are available for the family member on the Spectrum and an adult guardian.
