Richard (Rick) Golden
Richard Alan Golden, 69, of Two Harbors, MN, passed away on May 3, 2022 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 2 – 4 at Easy Acres Farm, 22807 Rausch Lake Road near Rockville, MN.
Rick was born in St. Cloud, MN to Florence and Roger Golden on July 6, 1952. He graduated from Technical High School in St. Cloud and then from Hennepin Technical College with a Cabinetmaking degree. He married Michelle Quinn on April 1, 1977. They spent several years in Montevideo MN as Bookmobile Librarian and Driver before moving briefly to Minneapolis to attend HTC.
He returned to St. Cloud with his family to work for the Stearns History Museum as it was being constructed and then as a free-lance woodworker. He also worked for the Great River Regional Library for many years as a regional delivery driver. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 1993 but continued to work as long as possible until retiring in 2007. He and Michelle moved to Two Harbors, MN in 2014. In retirement, as long as his health permitted, Rick continued to travel, cook, read, build and enjoy time with his wife, children, grandchildren, sister and other family and good friends.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Roger Golden.
He is survived by: his wife Michelle Quinn Golden; children Martha (John) Quinn Schlangen and Sam (Megan) Quinn Golden and 3 grandchildren, James, Ryan and Reed. Siblings include Janet Golden-Landquist, Jim Golden, Ron Golden and Roger Golden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Great River Regional Library, St. Cloud, MN; Two Harbors Public Library, Two Harbors, MN; Solvay Hospice House, Duluth.
Rick’s family wishes to extend our grateful thanks to Solvay Hospice House for their wonderful care. In addition we thank St. Luke’s Hospice Services, Agate Bay Assisted Living and the staff at Lake View Hospital and Clinic in Two Harbors for their care and kindness throughout Rick’s last years.
