This is a much too heavy application of salt. Slippery sidewalks need deicer like salt, but applying too much does not increase safety and the extra can damage vegetation and even concrete sidewalks. Extra salt damages our lakes and streams. You only need a slight scattering of salt - JUST ONE GRAIN EVERY 3 INCHES - for maximum melting power!
