The beacon at Split Rock Lighthouse will be lit Friday, November 10 in honor of the memory of the 29 sailors lives lost in the wreck of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald. Livestream the event from the Lake County Press website. Streaming can also be found at the Split Rock Lighthouse’s facebook page or the Minnesota Historical Society’s YouTube channel. If you attend in person the lighthouse will temporarily close at 4:15pm as the names of the lost crew members are read aloud to the tolling of a ship’s bell with the rendition of the Naval Hymn.
