Harlan Olson turns 100 with a crowd of family and friends at United Church of Two Harbors on Sunday April 30. Olson, according to his son Kirk, was an infantryman in World War II, 100th Division, 399th regiment, Company I, from 1941-45. His platoon entered southern France in 1944 and within six months Olson's division had made it all the way to Strasborg and was part of the liberation of that city. After the war ended, Olson, a graduate of Denfeld High School, was stationed for a year in Berlin where he was assigned the care of a motor warehouse. He enjoyed his year before returning home, seeing the sights of Berlin on a scooter and skiing in Switzerland. photo credit Kim Leon
