A tough Moose Lake-Willow River softball squad ended the Silver Bay season last Thursday at Braun Park in Cloquet with a 5-0 win in the Section 7A title game. The Mariners compiled a 19-5 record and got to the championship game for the first time in 14 years.
Two Harbors residents and business- owners, as well as all Minnesotans who travel up and down the North Shore, owe a debt of gratitude to Senator Grant Hauschild! The freshman legislator was successful in getting an $11 million appropriation added to the final transportation bill to cover the shortfall for the redesign and reconstruction of Highway 61 through the City of Two Harbors.
On March 28, as I was crossing 4th St. and 6th Ave. E. in Duluth, I was hit by a car. Fortunately, I survived, but suffered a small fracture in my left tibia.. Since then, I have had to navigate using crutches and a wheelchair, but hopefully in a few weeks, I will be back on my two legs and walking. To add to the challenge of immobility, I had signed a lease two weeks earlier to move into a new apartment at the end of April. I want to express my thanks and appreciation to all who have helped me during this time of healing and moving. Becky, faithful friend, transporter, shopper, launderer, pusher, orchestrator of the apartment move, picking up adaptive equipment at the Medical closet, and just being available for anything I needed. Community Partners volunteers and 10 High School students who helped me move to the new apartment. Karin who lent a shower stool and cleaned the former apartment.
