North Shore Storm boys hockey coach Shawn Lundgren knew he had a fairly inexperienced squad this year but felt his club could be competitive. “We finished our season at 7-19 but the kids worked hard and we improved,” he said.
The Silver Bay Girls 12UB hockey team made the state hockey tournament last weekend by taking 2nd place in the north regional tournament held in Cloquet. The Silver Bay girls basketball squad had their season end at the hands of Northeast Range in the first round of the Section 7A playoffs Monday, Feb. 28.
After 51 years of scorekeeping for the Two Harbors High School varsity basketball team home games Fred Kallio was honored for his dedication to Agate sports. In a gathering at THHS that included many former and current coaches, Athletic Director Scott Ross thanked Kallio for his years of service.
ALDEN LAKE A couple of months back I studied up on the NHL standings at that point in the season. I felt that a total of twelve teams were already out of the running for the Stanley Cup tournament. That left 20 teams chasing after 16 playoff spots. In light of the current negative trending of the Minnesota WILD and the improved play of other teams that have worked their way into the race I think it’s a great time to take a fresh look at where matters stand.

On Thursday night, March 3 in their final game of the season, the Two Harbors High School girls basketball team lost to host Marshall Schoo 92-54 in the Section 7AA second round playoff . Karly Holm, one of the captains of the team, reported that they “kept within four points’’ in the first half, which was a high level of play for them.
