Swim coach reflections post sectionals

This year out of the 12 girls we have on the team, we have one sophomore and six seniors! This means that our team is filled with strong senior leadership. At the beginning of the season I was nervous about what would happen when these seniors graduate next year but at the Junior High championships (for 7-8th graders, of which we have 5) our younger girls showed just how much they are going to step up. They showed their strength and leadership they have learned this season. I am now confident that they will do an incredible job next year.

The Amazing Journey of the Agates football team

This season has been one amazing journey! After losing 16 seniors last season many people didn’t give us much of a chance this year. Our kids put in a lot of work in the off-season between getting into the weight room and playing multiple sports. We were able to bring 4 schools together and form them into a “FAMILY”. I credit the administrators from each school, parents and community members, coaches, and most importantly—the players—for making this a great cooperative.

2022 Two Harbors Boys Soccer

This season was my first season as head coach of the Two Harbors boys’ soccer program. I had previously been an assistant coach with the girl’s program since the 2019 fall season. This season is a bit difficult to sum up in a few words or phrases. It’s easy to look at our record and think that maybe it’s just another season where the boys’ program isn’t very good, and they are not competitive. My message from to the boys from day one was to block out any outside noise and focus on the things that we can control. I thought we did a good job doing that. I would sum up our season as a step in the right direction.

This season we had enough athletes to form a Junior High team, with a total of 33 athletes program-wide. The volleyball teams played with heart and dedication, leaving it all on the court each and every time.

Way to go, Luke!

While many gathered in deer camps around the county last weekend, the refrain 'there were no deer' was often repeated in reports to those of us tending the home fires. Not so for Luke Nelson who bagged this 9-point, 200pound buck on opening day in Lake County.
