Somehow the Big Lie continues and now we have restrictive voting laws in many states. Minnesota members of what was once known as the Republican Party, want that to happen here as well, just to provide “a little more trust” in our election system.

Isle Royale, the “biggest island on the biggest lake in the world,” has been our backyard as we sailed from anchorage to anchorage this past week. It was early in the season and the ice had just gone out of the bays, so not many humans had yet landed. We eagerly chatted with the few people we found. They were National Park staff, interns and researchers for the wolf/moose study, and a few hardy backpackers.

Yet, he is obsessed with obtaining the identity of each Resign or Recall petition signer. It’s almost as though he wants to intimidate us and delay a recall election.

When you live in a closed atmospheric system, as we do here on planet earth, human waste, emissions and pollution are trouble. Since we have been releasing waste, emissions and pollution from the burning of fossil fuels for the past 150 years on an ever increasing curve, it appears as though waste, emissions and pollution have overwhelmed the planet’s ability to absorb and store said waste, emissions and pollution.

Greetings from the icy waters of Lake Superior! We are now aboard our 40’ sailboat, Amicus II, with four crew on our annual Sea Change voyage to coastline communities, educating and advancing climate-related solutions along the way. An intimidating northeast gale kept us pinned to our home port of Knife River for three days. Then, we managed to motor and sail to the Apostle Islands. We are currently docked in Washburn, Wisconsin. We encountered ice on the way in, but it was slushy and clear. Nothing that a steel boat can’t handle.

While we encourage readers to submit letters to the editor on issues they feel strongly about, we encourage writers to be respectful to one another. Your message is more likely to be heard if it is delivered in a civil manner. We also ask that letters include name, address, and phone number.
