Good news for Lake and Cook County youth. Thanks to a generous fund established by Gary and Betty Zinter, Silver Bay, scholarships are available to registered Concordia Language Village campers attending any one-week or two-week youth program, provided they are from Cook or Lake County.

Between May 11 and May 25 over 30,000 acres of wildland burned in the Brimson Complex fires, much of the perimeter contained as of the 25th. Fire experts warn that while green-up and some cooler, rainy days have been helpful, containment does not mean the fires are out, a process which can take weeks, or even months.

After unexpectedly learning that they we have to find a new location for their traditional Saturday morning Farmer’s Market in Two Harbors, the group quickly pivoted, and now will spend their 2025 season at Seagren’s Home Hardware Outdoors! at 820 11th Street.

Cooperative Light & Power (CLP) announces the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Joel Janorschke, effective mid-June. Janorschke, who joined the cooperative in October 2022, has decided to step down after accepting a new role as CEO of Lake Region Electric Cooperative in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.
A grassroots effort calling their group Love Life held the first annual Suicide Awareness Walk in May 2024, with a turnout of about 100 people. This year they hope to bring more people together at the Sonju Hockey Arena Saturday, May 17 from 9-11am.
