At a mere 22 days into the young NHL season, the Minnesota WILD already find themselves up against the proverbial wall. They have played 11 games in total and sit at a paltry 5-5-1 record. They haven't won a game against any clubs with a better than .500 win percentage, and as sorry as it is to say, they have also 'no-showed' two games. They are defensively challenged, do not score as much as their talent says they might, and special teams, with a bit of an exception for the team's Power Play, are not all that good. The team's Penalty Kill has been an adventure, and that's not good when you take as many penalties as the WILD do. The team training camp goals didn't appear to be very clearcut or organized, and they have been outcoached in a handful of games thus far in my humble opinion. Only 11 games in and I'm asking myself if this team can carve out a path to the playoffs for itself. And if it did, what are the chances to emerge from a well-established pattern of firstround eliminations?
