A couple of weeks ago I was in quarantine because I had Covid, and I hadn't been out much. I did have a nice visit with this little buck while we shared some apples from the trees in our yard. I don't speak deer, but I think he thought they were delicious. They sure were crisp and juicy!

A New Legal Theory In the next month or so, the United States Supreme Court will hear arguments in Moore v. Harper and will decide whether to adopt a new legal theory about elections that is being pushed by some Republicans.

Masked Fan Speaks

At a mere 22 days into the young NHL season, the Minnesota WILD already find themselves up against the proverbial wall. They have played 11 games in total and sit at a paltry 5-5-1 record. They haven't won a game against any clubs with a better than .500 win percentage, and as sorry as it is to say, they have also 'no-showed' two games. They are defensively challenged, do not score as much as their talent says they might, and special teams, with a bit of an exception for the team's Power Play, are not all that good. The team's Penalty Kill has been an adventure, and that's not good when you take as many penalties as the WILD do. The team training camp goals didn't appear to be very clearcut or organized, and they have been outcoached in a handful of games thus far in my humble opinion. Only 11 games in and I'm asking myself if this team can carve out a path to the playoffs for itself. And if it did, what are the chances to emerge from a well-established pattern of firstround eliminations?

From the Outside

Veterans Day It was during the Great War, later known as World War One, that the might of the modern, industrial war machine first met the frailty of the human body and the obsolete, suicidal tactics of arrogant politicians and military leaders. Americans got involved three years into the European conflict after German submarines sank a bunch of our merchant and passenger ships on the high seas, and Germany attempted to form an alliance with Mexico that, if successful, would lead to the return of US territory to Mexico that had been acquired after the Mexican-American War.

Lake County Humane Society Needs Help!

Meet Frisco. He is roughly 7-8 months old and loves to play! He is a sweet, gentle boy and gets along great with other animals. Frisco and many other cats are being taking care of by the LC Humane Society and they could use your help with donations, volunteering, or adoptions. After many months of fairly low census at the nonprofit-run animal shelter for Lake County, a crisis has arisen. Suddenly in the position of needing to care for, feed, get veterinary attention, spay/neuter and eventually home over 30 cats in one-fell-swoop, the LC Humane Society is issuing an emergency request for help from the community.
