The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) is pleased to announce the newest recipients of 42 Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Large Grants ($10,000 and more), totaling $4,987,373 in 23 counties.
The Arrowhead Library System (ALS) will be providing Acrylic Painting Take & Create Art Kits to member public libraries to distribute December 12-31, 2022. This art experience has been designed by 321 Art Studio in Chisholm and explores acrylic painting for beginners and more advanced participants. Take & Create Art Kits will include supplies to create two unique pictures – one for beginners and one for advanced painters, one 11 x 14 stretched canvas, one 9 x 12 canvas board, one sheet of mixed media paper, and one paint kit that contains a drawing pencil, two brushes, and 12 tubes of acrylic paint. Two follow-along instructional videos will be shared online for participants – one for beginners and one for intermediate painters. Both videos include simple instructions and tips on using paint, canvas, and brushes. Each kit will include enough supplies for three paintings, so participants have multiple options to practice and/or create something of their own. Part IV: Last week Dr. Cotton talked about the decline of physical exams by MDs. The Osteopathic Physician: While Osteopathy has always included physical measures such as manipulation and massage, and continues to do so, they have always been scientifically oriented. The early colleges were lacking in faculty, facilities, or curriculum sufficient to satisfy the academic accreditation requirements for medical education. Over a period of years, they corrected all these deficiencies, including the quality of applicants. Eventually they became recognized as the equivalent to the medical doctor (MD), and the doctor of Osteopathy (DO) for many years now, train together now in post-doctoral residency in all the specialties. Several DO’s have been among the providers of care for me personally. Alas, I fear that they refer to the lab, and limit the touch with its therapeutic benefits. DO’s are now found as staff and faculty at practically every major clinic and institution.

After a tumultuous week that saw Lake View nurses in Two Harbors who are represented by the union Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) change course unexpectedly, the final result on Wednesday, December 7 was that they were continuing to negotiate their new contract with Lake View administration.
Santa arrived in Two Harbors last week by fire truck for a great party of bonfires, s’mores, cider and more goodies.
