I'm pleased to introduce Jonee Vance and Mike Gareri who were out walking their dogs on the Two Harbors Ski Trail this autumn. They have recently moved to the area from Duluth and appeared to be having a good day on the trail. The Two Harbors Ski Trail Club was doing Trail maintenance getting the Ski Trail and the Bigfoot Snowshoe Trail ready for winter use.
The Two Harbors Christmas Bird Count (CBC) will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022, and feeder watchers are needed for this year’s efforts. The count is part of a continent-wide winter bird monitoring program organized and conducted by citizen science volunteers. Each CBC follows a standardized protocol, with a count circle 15 miles in diameter and counting conducted during one 24-hour period during the holiday season. The center of the Two Harbors CBC is actually in Larsmont, and the circle extends up the shore to about Stewart River, down the shore to Stoney Point, and north to the Big Rock/Drummond Line area.
Before attending to other township business Tuesday night December 6, the Fall Lake Township board addressed an issue presented by Bernie Pruse at the December regular meeting. Pruse asked Lake County to annex vacated Basswood and Elm Streets to his property.

During Monday’s regular meeting of the Two Harbors city council the 2023 budget was adopted, and the property tax levy of a 2 percent increase was approved. In a presentation prior to the vote on those matters city finance director Miranda Pietila presented information regarding the recommendation of the finance committee.
After a tumultuous week that saw Lake View nurses in Two Harbors who are represented by the union Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) change course unexpectedly, the final result on Wednesday, December 7 was that they were continuing to negotiate their new contract with Lake View administration.
Santa arrived in Two Harbors last week by fire truck for a great party of bonfires, s’mores, cider and more goodies.
