Moratorium on STRs Passed in Lake County

At the May 10 meeting of the Lake County board of commissioners a resolution was passed to institute a 12-month moratorium on any new short-term rentals. In previous weeks the board had held a public hearing on the subject, met in a special work session to discuss it, and followed the process and decisions of the Two Harbors Planning and Zoning commission and city council closely.

4% Limit on STRs Approved by Two Harbors Council

At the regular city council meeting held in Two Harbors on May 9 Paul Iverson urged the council to pass the second reading of an amended ordinance limiting short-term rentals (STRs) in the city. Speaking in his role as a member of the Two Harbors Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Iverson said he believed pursuing competitive grant applications in the future might be com promised without a limit on STRs.

Resign or Recall Committee Collects Signatures for Second Time Committee Attempts to Prevent Swanson from Access to Names

TWO HARBORS, MN, MAY 9, 2022 – The Two Harbors RESIGN OR RECALL COMMITTEE, working to recall Mayor Chris Swanson, began collecting signatures for the second time on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the Two Harbors Community Center. As of Monday afternoon, the Committee already had over 300 signatures, which is more than half of the approximately 500 signatures needed. The Committee planned to continue collecting at the Community Center Monday evening as well as Wednesday and again on Friday, if necessary.

Welcome back Finland Spring and fishing opener, who’s excited? I recently saw an article in an outdoor paper saying, “Ice to be out on all MN lakes for opener”. I am skeptical, but hopefully for all those “jonesin for a boat, bugs and water” they are right! Back on land, I still see some snow in my garden, its melting but not fast enough.
