As I was outside watering the other day, I notice the trees here look like they will produce a nice chokecherry crop for jelly, and I immediately got excited for jelly making! Other exciting non news here, I have been planting and replanting rhubarb around the yard hoping to spread the joy and have an abundance next season, you really can’t have too much rhubarb, can you? If you are thinking to yourself yes, yes, you can have too much, then you need to bake more! That’s all I have for this week folks…. Until next time.

A shot across the bow This time of year, the days are long, and the weather is hot. Ahh, summer.

Dijon is a 2-year-old Epagneul Breton (French Brittany). He is extremely active and loves to play. He is a bird hunter and a pointer. He hunts both pheasants and grouse and squirrels of course. Dijon would like to remind everyone that he is looking for new playmates at the Two Harbors Dog Park. The dog park is located just to the east of the hockey arena in the outdoor hockey rink spring through fall. The dog park is always open but a small group of loyal friends gather every Saturday morning from 10 am to noon and Wednesday evening 6:30 to dusk. Dijon would love to see you there. The Lake Superior School District board approved a preliminary budget for next school year, approving for the third year in a row a preliminary budget that is projected to be running at a deficit. None of the projected budget costs are related to the recent referendum or school building improvements.

Graduation, Retirements at Two Harbors High School This past week was something all students had been waiting for, the last day of school! The Student Council put on several different activities in the last half of the school day for students and staff to celebrate finishing this year. After everyone’s hard work and determination through the school year, we all deserved a little bit of fun.
