A Road-tripping Ramble Something told me I should check my tires. After driving more than 200 miles of rough gravel roads in the mountains and semi-desert country of Wyoming over the previous few days, I was now climbing out of the remote, Centennial Valley of southwest Montana and up to a high saddle between the Snowcrest and Gravelly ranges on a deeply rutted dirt road that didn’t even have gravel.
The North Shore Mental Health Group wishes a fond farewell to Ryan Babcock, an Americorps Vista attached to the Regional Sustainable Development Partnership through the University of Minnesota. Ryan was a dynamo, working with several agencies and community groups along the North Shore.
If you’re a parent of a baby or toddler, you’d probably like them to just sit for a while and relax. But that’s not how they’re wired. They stand, grab, twist, fall down, jump, roll, push coffee cups off tables, open drawers, pull out clothes, bang pots, turn, crawl to a toy, drag it around, sit down, stand up, try out words, smile, pull your hair, grab your glasses, look adorable and before you know it, they run wherever they want to go.

Do you like to live dangerously? Do you feel ten fingers are overrated? Then why not try petting Little Guy? Actually, he prefers that you didn’t. This Miniature Pinscher-Chihuahua mix knows what he doesn’t like and that’s 99.9% of the human race. Although strangers may not be his cup of tea, he is very loyal to his humans and two dog siblings. Fun Fact: Little Guy is a native of Hawaii! Aloha.
In an energized campaign for Two Harbor city council seats, three candidates for Ward 1 and three candidates for councilor-at-large responded to an invitation by the Lake County Press and KTWH community radio to speak about emerging issues.
A special meeting of the Two Harbors city council was held on Monday, July 18. The approval of land appropriation for a proposed senior housing project led the agenda with a recommendation by the Public Affairs committee in a meeting on July 14.

VA Caregiver Support Program The Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) offers support and services for family caregivers of eligible Veterans who were seriously injured in the line of duty during certain time periods and meet other eligibility requirements. The VA recognizes the important role family caregivers in supporting the health and wellness of Veterans.
Oddness continues in the weather patterns for us on the North Shore. If the Big Lake could warm up a bit maybe, we can squeeze out some bearable warm days yet this year. Updates on my end because I know you are just jones’n to know….. My green bean plants are doing well, I think I have neem oiled away the pests, and now I am going to be slug hunting in my berry patch. We had a bear stroll though the property like nobodies’ business last week, that was exciting for the dogs, not so much for me. Until next time….
