Oddness continues in the weather patterns for us on the North Shore. If the Big Lake could warm up a bit maybe, we can squeeze out some bearable warm days yet this year. Updates on my end because I know you are just jones’n to know….. My green bean plants are doing well, I think I have neem oiled away the pests, and now I am going to be slug hunting in my berry patch. We had a bear stroll though the property like nobodies’ business last week, that was exciting for the dogs, not so much for me. Until next time….

Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Goes Full Steam Ahead

Anyone who regularly travels to the Two Harbors Breakwall is aware of the bustle of activity at the wastewater treatment site. Two Harbors is getting a major upgrade in its wastewater treatment plant, according to wastewater superintendent, Luke Heikkila. This project was born in 2015 when he and the city government began looking into an upgrade for their biosolids treatment facility. Biosolids are the treated bi-product of wastewater and are used as fertilizer for local lands. Heikkila said that once they looked at the “big picture,” they determined that with such an old system (structurally built in 1956 and 1972), it made more sense to upgrade everything all at once.
