Delays and congestion expected during North Shore travel this weekend
DULUTH, Minn. –Motorists should expect delays when traveling towards and along the North Shore starting this Thursday, August 4 through Sunday, August 7 due to large events and construction impacts. With the Festival of Sail in Two Harbors and the Grand Marais Fisherman’s Picnic, traffic congestion is anticipated.
City of Silver Bay pulling for special state legislative session
This week’s Silver Bay city council meeting was brief, with approval of past meeting minutes and approval to pay the bills taking up just a few minutes of the very short meeting. Councilors moved on to approving a revised letter to be signed by the mayor and sent to the Range Association of Municipalities andSchools.The council also discussed the need for a state legislative special session, one in which legislators would be able to hear a presentation requesting funding fromthe LCCMR (Legislative Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources) for the proposed Multi Modal Trailhead Center.

This season’s Bulldogs men’s hockey team will feature a one of college hockey’s most explosive top-six forward groupsnext season. The ultra-elite player in the group is freshman left wing Isaac Howard, a first-round (31st overall) pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2022 National Hockey League draft. The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder -- who has NHL speed -- scored 155 points (65 goals) in 101 games in two seasons with the U.S. National Development Team.

Safety and Security During the Festival of Sail
Ships are making their way west through the Great Lakes in anticipation of the Festival of Sail in Two Harbors, which will be taking place from August 4-7. Two Harbors Police Chief Rick Hogenson has been planning and preparing for a safe and successful festival for months. In an interview with the Lake County Press and KTwH, he acknowledged that it has been a lot of work, but emphasized what a team effort it has been, with many players from federal, state, and local agencies.
