In a very small gathering at the Two Harbors Public Library on January 31 , Katya Gordon was presented with an award as part of the 2022 Minnesota Climate Adaptation Awards Event held by the Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership (MCAP).
St. Paul, Minn. – Minnesota Veterans Home - Silver Bay achieved excellent results during its recent Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) quality survey. MDH conducts annual surveys on behalf of the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The survey, which focuses on ensuring nursing homes meet high quality standards, measures overall operations and delivery of Resident healthcare. It is also an essential component of nursing home recertification.
Hope is looking for a new home while waiting at the Lake County Humane Society. Roughly 8 months old, she was found as a stray in Two Harbors. She is very shy, but once you are sitting down, she will come to sit on your lap. She really likes other cats, and canned food! Hope would love to find a home that is quiet and lets her be her independent self.
Brand new to Lake County and sustainable farming, Lori and Shawn Amundson are making progress to achieve the impossible. They are working to grow oranges in the woods near Two Harbors. You read that right. They are planning to grow oranges. Few people have had a fresh citrus right off a tree up here.
Avid deer hunters in the Arrowhead Region might not be too happy to hear it but the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources doesn’t seem interested—at this point— in finding ways to increase the whitetail deer population in our region. In response to the moose population decline, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) proposed keeping lower deer densities in the moose range.
