Col. Bob Buus was the amiable host for the breakfast crowd at Our Place in Finland before the parade. The colonel and his crew worked overtime on Saturday keeping thirsty and hungry patrons well attended. Our place was voted the best in category for their cabbage and corned beef soup! Steve Solkela of Palo, Minnesota entertained the crowd with his many tunes as he zipped along the parade route on his skateboard. Solkela later played more music with his Bad at Math Quartet. Photo courtesy of Forrest Johnson

Meet Jack, he was out on a run when I met him along Burlington Bay in Two Harbors. He was so friendly when I asked if I could take his picture. Jack just moved to Two Harbors from Traverse City, Michigan by seeking an ad for an apartment in a newspaper. He thinks Two Harbors is “incredible”. You can tell by the look on his face that he enjoyed running along the Lake and found something wonderful there. He works in Duluth as a job coach for Arrowhead Community Employment. Jack says his personal mission statement is, “May peace prevail over the earth and may love be the religion.”
The first four things I did when I moved to Two Harbors were 1. Apply for an Arrowhead Library Card 2.

Isolation. This is a word we have become very familiar with in recent years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It is a word that conjures up a lot of emotions, experiences, and maybe for some, even trauma. However for many people in the disability community this word wasn’t a new word, or a new experience of restriction. It is a word that describes many of our days in the pre-pandemic world.
