Moving operations from her long-running Salon 507 at her home, Courtney is excited about how renovations of the newly opened Salon 507 on Seventh have turned out, crediting husband Brian with lots of hard work tearing apart and rebuilding the 1899 structure.
The city was told it would not have to bear the costs of hosting the tall ships event. Presented with the costs for law enforcement and emergency response preparations, the organizer is now saying the costs are unreasonable, compared to costs in other cities. The issue is that our city has only one main thoroughfare through the town, our own police and emergency forces are quite small, and all aid will have to come from Duluth, Beaver Bay, Silver Bay, and wherever else that can spare the resources. This help will be far more expensive than if it had to come from only a few miles away. Our physically small city will have a far more difficult job to handle a crowd several times larger than the population of our city. The effort will be monumental and unimaginable. The lives and well-being of tens of thousands of people cannot be quibbled over.
After 43 years Norm Bourdage is retiring as a bus driver for Lake Superior School District. This ‘50s-vintage restored bus waited with celebratory banner to greet him on his return from his last run on the final day of school. “This last bunch of kids has been the best,” said Bourdage about his most recent contingent of students. This year three high school students along the north shore received the first ever scholarships from Amy Jordahl Insurance & Financial Services LLC. Jordahl says that she and her team wanted to support north shore communities and decided to offer $500 scholarships to seniors in Grand Marais, Silver Bay and Two Harbors.

This is Mandy, she is 5 years old, and she loves her taco and lamb toys. She also loves going on walks with her cousin Bosely, and loves sleeping anywhere there is a sun beam.

Clover is an Old Time Scotch Collie who just celebrated his first birthday. He is a sweet and silly boy who loves food, his dog sister Bonnie, going for walks and sleeping on the sofa. He makes us laugh daily with his entertaining personality and zest for life!
