HRAs and elected officials come together in historic meeting

A sign of the times and the crisis of housing shortage in the region, a recent meeting brought together officials of the city of Two Harbors and Lake county.The Housing and Redevelopment Authorities (HRAs) from both the city of Two Harbors and Lake county were joined by city councilors and county commissioners in a 90-minute meeting January 18th.Representatives of the HRAs detailed projects they are working on or have in the offing while they asked questions and became more familiar with each other.Two Harbors mayor Lew Conner later stated that he felt the interaction was a positive one that could help move forward on housing development.“There was a strong spirit of collaboration in the room, and we will be seeking out different ways and projects to work on in the community with each other,” stated Conner.The four entities, the Two Harbors council, county board, and two HRAs, agreed to meet quarterly, with more frequent meetings between HRA members.
