Electronic Pull Tabs Comes to Two Harbors at the American Legion Post 109
Hundreds of veteran and fraternal organizations in Minnesota are benefiting from charitable gaming to help support the posts and raise more money for local charities, including American Legion Post 109 in Two Harbors.According to a release from the post, the E-Bingo machines provide a source of low-stakes, low-risk entertainment for members of veteran’s clubs and fraternal organizations while raising much needed dollars for local charities.At least 30% of the revenue that charitable gaming raises for each post goes to other charities in their local communities including youth programs, emergency shelters, fire departments and senior centers.“E-Tabs and E-Bingo is a new source of fundraising for our organization, and additional resources to help us provide community assistance,” American Legion Post 109 Commander Chris Belfield said, “These new machines are the modern form of the paper tabs our patrons have been playing for years.
Native Nations Expo, Lake county’s opportunity to recognize rich Indigenous history and current culture
A new and exciting addition is coming what has become a beloved annual event, this year’s Cabin Fever Reliever fundraiser for KTWH-Two Harbors community radio.Kicking off the event in the afternoon March 10th, 1:00 to 3:00 pm, the Native Nations Expo was born out of KTWH’s Kim Leon’s idea that recognition of Indigenous influences to the history and current culture of the north shore need more highlighting.This year at the Expo participants will be welcomed into the great hall of the Two Harbors high school to enjoy intermittent musical performances by American Indian individuals, as well as traditional dance with regalia by dancers and a drum group from Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.All the while opportunities to learn about a wide array of Indigenous topics will be available with presenters at tables in the hall; including the Minnesota Historical Society, Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission, the 1854 Treaty Authority and John Beargrease’s great-grandson Mike Keyport.
