4H Conference Judging began on Monday, August 4 at the Lake County Fairgrounds. Here Martha Hanson lends her expertise in food judging with submissions by Mette Anderson. Anderson is going into the 7th grade and has been in 4H for five years. This year she had already won a blue ribbon with her homemade fudge, and was sharing her strawberry jam to see how that stacked up. Lake County 4H Youth Development Extension Educator, said that overall 4H participation was up this year with around 140 members, and 30 entries for conference judging. Open-class competition is open to anyone of all ages who is a resident of the LSSD school district area. All of the 4H competitors work will be on display during the fair this weekend.
