Acclaimed artist and scholar Carl Gawboy joined the Lake Superior 20/20 Studio Art Tour this year for the first time from his home and studio just outside of Two Harbors last weekend.Fine weather and a full schedule of artists brought flocks of visitors to the area countryside where they enjoyed visiting artist’s in their studios and viewing their art for purchase.Gawboy said for years he and his wife, Cindy, came to the 20/20 tours as visitors, and now is glad to be part of the lineup.A member of the Bois Forte Band, Gawboy grew up in Ely and taught American Indian studies and watercolor painting at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and at the College of St.
Two Harbors seems to be on the brink of creating real changes at their downtown waterfront, something that has been a dream for decades and had almost a half-dozen plans and as many heartbreaking non-starts.Now, with the pending transition of significant Agate Bay waterfront property from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources to city ownership, actual change does seem possible.A public meeting was held in front of Two Harbors Planning and Zoning commission Tuesday, October 1 for individuals to voice their opinions about waterfront development.
