Excitement to get in the pool: Swim class students have fun and learn
For three weeks in February and March we had a crew of 4th through 6th graders that worked on learning the skills needed for competitive swimming. We had some brand new to the program and several returning swimmers.
Short term rental ordinance considered by county
Nearing the end of a one-year moratorium on new STRs in greater-Lake County set in May 2022, the county board discussed ideas around a potential 4% cap on STRs for areas outside of city limits. Silver Bay Floriculture Team Moves Onto State
I’ve participated in the Silver Bay FFA since 8th grade, with most of my experience being in Floriculture. Floriculture is defined as the cultivation of flowers but often includes any ornamental plants. The competition in 2020, which would have been my first, was canceled due to Covid-19. The 2021 competition was entirely online, and last year I participated in Forestry due to not having enough people to have a Floriculture team. Floriculture has always been my favorite category, so I was determined to be able to participate this year. A few weeks into practicing, we realized that we didn’t have enough people. The minimum amount for a team to participate is 3, although the more the better, and we only had myself and Vesper Robinson. I was able to get Ria Soderstrom to join the team, and so we were able to continue with our practices.

Masked Fan Speaks
It was the first message waiting for me on Saturday morning. It said simply 'Bud Grant RIP.' I got that momentary immediate jolt to the heart one gets upon hearing news of this sort. It was somewhat unexpected even if Grant was 95. There was no long lingering illness other than what you'd expect a person's physical condition to normally be at that age. So, I was left with my thoughts to consider a life well lived by one of the most iconic figures of my life in this region.
