Do you want to make a difference in your community? A new paid apprenticeship program for clinical assistants offers a chance at a rewarding job and fulfilling career that can be a pathway to other health care careers. In an innovative move Lake View Hospital & Clinics in Two Harbors and Silver Bay has just started a program to hire two full-time clinical assistants-in-training. The employer-driven model combines on-the-job training along with classroom education. Apprentices will work in a collaborative environment to deliver clinical patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals. The apprentice will spend 50% of their time in the classroom and 50% in a clinical area, and will be paid for all of their time, including classroom time. Total training ranges from 9 to 12 months, culminating with the clinical assistant certification exam. “It is a great chance to get clinical experience and see if the health care field is right for you, while getting paid to become a professional,” said Lake View CEO/president Greg Ruberg. Ruberg said that in order to address the high and growing demand for health care professionals of every type, Lake View has decided to make this investment to remove financial barriers for people who may be interested. “We know that we have to think innovatively and creatively to invest in people who want to start careers in health care,” Ruberg stated. Apprentices will have the chance to work in a supervised role with nurses and physicians at the clinic, learning to prepare patients for doctor visits by taking their vitals and reviewing medications. Applicants are welcome and must have a high school diploma.
Online Access to Benefits At least five years ago, I was invited to breakfast by a shirt-tail cousin (his term) and fellow Veteran. I joined a table of Veterans; each having seen many more birthdays than I.
As I prepare for the soon to be growing season, I am dreaming of big, beautiful dahlias. They are one of my favorite flowers to grow, and they are a great beginner flower for novice gardeners. You can easily start them from seed, and after your first growing season, one plant will turn into many with just a little know-how. This is thanks to the development of tubers, or the bulbs that form beneath the soil of the plant. These tubers will each form an individual plant when divided and stored properly over the winter and planted again in the spring. If you are not one to start seedlings, you can purchase tubers and transplants at many nurseries and greenhouses for planting directly in your gardens and containers.
