“Hey, Team!”, is the call out that coach Jenna Udenberg puts out to her team. All ten team members respond reflexively, “Hey, What?” and settle in to pay attention.

As more people discover what those who live here already know – this is the best place in the world – keeping nature natural and preserving the best of the north shore has become a priority. In Lake County business owners and municipal government have begun to grapple with the idea that tourism is an essential part of our economic health and brings with it considerable challenges to the quality of life for residents.
November is an opportunity to honor the Indigenous people who first called Lake County and the north shore home. Their ancestors fished in the bay’s of the Big Lake by torchlight, trapped, hunted, gathered manoomin and traveled to sugar bush where we now value our wilderness experiences.
Thank you to reader Steven Rebelein for his observations to our question about what happened to the Silver Creek arch, pieces of which have been photographed by Becky Norlien on the ground and printed in last week’s Lake County Press.
Letters to the editor, columns, and cartoons are the opinions of the contributors and not necessarily the Lake County Press. While we encourage readers to submit letters to the editor on issues they feel strongly about, we encourage writers to be respectful to one another. Your message is more likely to be heard if it is delivered in a civil manner. We also ask that letters include name, address, and phone number. Anonymous submissions or letters of questionable credibility will not be published or acknowledged. The Lake County Press also asks that letters be no longer than 350 words; however, at the editor’s discretion, longer submissions may be published occasionally. All letters are subject to editing for length, clarity, and libelous content. Letters can be submitted to editor@lakecountypress.news.
There are many myths in this world. There have been creation stories throughout the ages and mythmakers have been busy over the years creating the many myths of this nation, from Pecos Bill to Paul Bunyan to the notion of a free market operating within a true democratic society.
It is now over a week post-election, and there are some surprises, but in a way, not really. The county is split, surprise, surprise! Magnificently, organically, almost magically we have all worked together to ensure that whatever party has (narrow) control of either House or Senate, no one can breathe freely or ride roughshod over fringe or opposing views. As this goes to press, some of the elections are still pending, and in our own state ballots are being counted and re-counted. Here in Lake County, if all recounts align with original counts, we will be represented by nonpartisans in the city of Two Harbors and Silver Bay, Democrats (MN Senate and governor) and Republicans (MN House) in state office, and Democrats (US Senate) and Republicans (US House) in federal office.
