Marilyn Schaefer quietly departed this life on Saturday, September 3. For those who are unaware of who Marilyn was, you only have to ask the myriad of dog owners (she knew many of them) and shop keepers as well as others around town who had the pleasure of her visits, accompanied by her faithful companion, Maggie. The two had the ability to brighten your day with Marilyn’s compassion and wit and Maggie’s enduring mannerisms. If you were lucky, Maggie might even have had a conversation
Mary A. Kor, 79, formerly of Two Harbors, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Essentia Health in Duluth.
Florence “Marion” Johnson Florence “Marion” Johnson passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 5th. Marion was born on October 19, 1930, to Gust and Esther Gustafson in Two Harbors, Minnesota.
A traditional Fun Meet with the Two Harbors Agates Swimming & Dive Team and the Agates Football team finally was revived this year. Head Swimming & Dive coach Heather Mayfield said, 'We hadn't been able to have the meet for a few years because of covid, so all the kids had a blast this year!' A great way to kick off the school sports season, contestants had a noodle relay, inner tube relay, t-shirt relay, and a freestyle relay where the swim team really showed what they can do. It wrapped up with a cannon ball contest, of course!

A new development with unique short-term vacation lodging, called The Harbors resort, is coming to the north shore. According to John Luepke, who calls himself an entrepreneur and resort owner, the property is just south of Two Harbors, located across from Agate Bay breakwall.
The North Shore Adventure Park in Silver Bay has added another adventurous activity to their offerings with the ribbon-cutting of their axe-throwing expansion. In the opening event last week co-owner Alice Tibbetts thanked the city for working with them to accomplish their expansion goals, explaining that a low-interest loan program through the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB) related to Covid-19 recovery funding helped them continue to move forward during the pandemic.
It’s that time of year again when schools, kids, parents and the community start gearing up to go back to school! We see supply drives, schools holding meet-and-greets, and let’s not forget grandpa, who “… had to walk five miles in the snow, uphill both ways!”
