Veterans and service members with a service-connected disability that impacts their ability to work may be eligible for VR&E.

HDC (Human Development Center) the Northland’s largest Mental Health and Recovery Services Provider has launched their new website hdcnorth.org. This update comes with increased demand for Mental Health and Recovery services across the US and Northland. People looking to access HDC’s services for the first time can now request an appointment directly on the website.

Laurenco Goncalves, King and CEO of Cliffs Natural Resources and el jefe, the boss, of Northshore Mining, has made yet another decision to stymie a few towns and counties in his bid to outlast the Mesabi Trust and its hold on the ore at the Mitchell Mine near Babbitt. Larry made the decision recently to idle the mine and plant and railroad and docks until at least next April.

Lake County Sheriff gives annual report

Interim Sheriff Nate Stadler offered a report to the county board this Tuesday covering the last year of operations by the sheriff ’s department. Stadler reported that 4,772 calls for service came in last year to the department, with the majority related to traffic issues. Interestingly 126 calls were related to animals, mostly to check on animals, such as in vehicles, or to respond to nuisance animals. Of all the calls last year, 80 were domestic calls, and 78 were mental health related. Stadler commented that the calls related to mental health ranged from people experiencing psychotic episodes, to risk of suicide,
