21st Annual Tori Finnish Celebration

Finland MN Historical Society will be hosting its 21st annual Tori Finnish Marketplace & Music Fest at the Finland MN Historical Site on Saturday, August 13, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This year’s Tori will showcase stellar music on an outdoor bandstand. Our featured musicians this year include THUG (Two Harbors Ukulele Group); Gene LaFond & Amy Grillo; Lindula Brothers; Bill & Kate Isles, and Josh Agacki. This is truly a something-for-everyonemusic event. The day also includes an immersion into the Finnish culture with tours of our Heritage Site Museum, sauna, forestry building, homestead cabin, and schoolhouse. There are artist and blacksmith demonstrations, as well as an array of art and craft vendors with goods toshow and sell. There is a silent auction with many items from local artists and shops. You can taste delicious food including fish burgers, grilled brats and hotdogs, and a local favorite…grilled sweet corn.The young and young at heart will have fun with outdoor games and make & take art projects. There is also a cash raffle, with prizes awarded at 5:00 p.m. Top prize is $500! Raffle tickets are available for purchase at the event or at local merchants.

North Shore Health announces fast and free* OnTrack hybrid process for CNA Training

GRAND MARAIS, MN, July 29, 2022 — For those interested in becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) North Shore Health (NSH) has launched a new OnTrack program to make the process swift and flexible. The hybrid process allows candidates to complete the online portion using an internet connected computer in a location convenient to them, while completing the hands-onportion at NSH.Those without a computer with internet access may use one at the NSH training facility or in the nearby Higher Education building. Trips to and from Duluth for testing are no longer necessary. The training and certification can be done at one’s own speed and on their own schedule within a specified time frame.
