Letters to the editor

Letters to the editor, columns, and cartoons are the opinions of the contributors and not necessarily the Lake County Press. While we encourage readers to submit letters to the editor on issues they feel strongly about, we encourage writers to be respectful to one another. Your message is more likely to be heard if it is delivered in a civil manner. We also ask that letters include name, address, and phone number. Anonymous submissions or letters of questionable credibility will not be published or acknowledged. The Lake County Press also asks that letters be no longer than 350 words; however, at the editor’s discretion, longer submissions may be published occasionally. All letters are subject to editing for length, clarity, and libelous content. Letters can be submitted to editor@lakecountypress.news.

There was a new station at Wolf Ridge near Finland, but that was farther up the shore and much closer to the lake.

Stuff the Bus with School Supplies

Head of the Lakes United Way's (HLUW) Stuff the Bus Donation Drive is a school readiness program that provides school supplies to help prepare local area students for school. HLUW is asking individuals, employee groups, and service organizations to help students in our community by donating the “most requested supplies” listed in the chart below. “Education is one of our three impact focus areas at Head of the Lakes United Way. Stuff the Bus helps students every year in our local communities by providing them with the tools they need to succeed,” says HLUW President Matt Hunter. Community Campaign Coordinator Robert Peacock is grateful for the community partners who have stepped up to make this event possible. “The support from our community partners and supporters makes it possible to give back to the local communities we serve by getting school supplies to students in the Lake Superior School District in Minnesota and the Superior School District in Wisconsin.”

Runoff Report

Forrest Johnson Editor’s note: We will return to the adventures of Tony’s Underwater Limousine Service, the reluctant editor, God and Hell Yes!, the old pilot and the Great March for Community Newspapers. In the meantime: Stream of Consciousness #1749 Hal, the Camp Shack robotic portable butchering unit, complete with headlights and protective shield, was determined to lead a small revolt that would have meant many bad things for the fellows in the deer camps across Lake County.
