Lonnie Dupre, Arctic explorer and solo mountaineer whose home base is Grand Marais, MN, recently returned from a winter adventure (Jan-May) in Greenland–a place on the planet he circumnavigated 23 years ago. In an interview with the Lake County Press Dupre described his trip. He and his team, including his partner Pascal Marceau, arrived during the polar night which in Greenland lasts from October to February, to gather sled dogs. They traveled with these dogs from village to village for the next few months, visiting with and traveling with the local Inuit people, creating film footage that he hopes will tell their story of cultural change, resilience, and ingenuity amidst a fast changing climate.
