Join COMPAS Teaching Artists TaikoArts Midwest for this hour-long program that is a combination of performance, lecture and interactive activities. With an emphasis on individual empowerment and the community building benefits of taiko, the performance is easily adjusted to any age/ability level. Audience members will learn the history & cultural context of taiko drumming in Japan and the United States. They will also learn about taiko drums, how they are made, a general vocabulary for the artform, and kuchishoka - how we say & teach rhythms. Interactive activities, depending on the size of the audience, can also include Q&A, learning rhythms, trying the drums themselves, and more.

Last Week Lake View Hospital and Clinics recognized their health care team members across their hospital and clinics, as well as their community partners who support and partner with them throughout the year with a BBQ lunch.

Ten students from William Kelley and Two Harbors High Schools participated in the State FFA Convention at the University of Minnesota on April 24-26th. Students participated in Career Development Events and workshops, attended sessions, helped out with a community service project, and met new people.

Here are Bob and Barbara Jean Carlson who I met at the demonstration forest in April 14th. They are from White Bear Lake and have recently purchased a place in Two Harbors . They have been out exploring Two Harbors and loving and enjoying what they’ve discovered so far.
