At the regular city council meeting held in Two Harbors on May 9 Paul Iverson urged the council to pass the second reading of an amended ordinance limiting short-term rentals (STRs) in the city. Speaking in his role as a member of the Two Harbors Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Iverson said he believed pursuing competitive grant applications in the future might be com promised without a limit on STRs.
At the May 10 meeting of the Lake County board of commissioners a resolution was passed to institute a 12-month moratorium on any new short-term rentals. In previous weeks the board had held a public hearing on the subject, met in a special work session to discuss it, and followed the process and decisions of the Two Harbors Planning and Zoning commission and city council closely.
The end of the school year is rapidly approaching in the Lake Superior School District (LSSD), with just four more weeks of school and graduation for William Kelley (5:00 pm) and Two Harbors (7”30 pm) seniors on June 3rd.

Two Harbors faculty and staff took on the boys and girls basketball squad last Saturday and raised funds for the Two Harbors Area Food Shelf as part of the fun. With the snow finally gone and the course starting to dry, Two Harbors golf coach Mike Fitzpatrick has been able to get his golfers out on the edges of the course for some needed swings. “This week is our first week on the course, using areas dry enough so we don’t tear things up,” said Fitzpatrick.
With the weather starting to cooperate, the Two Harbors softball squad got in three ballgames this past week. Last Wednesday at the Wade Stadium fields in Duluth the Agates topped Cromwell 13-3.
The Silver Bay softball squad played host to the Cook County Vikings Monday and the local girls came away with a resounding 15-0 win. “It was a mixture of their mistakes and our hitting,” said coach Mike Guzzo.
Roman Wacker, 84, Two Harbors, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Lake View Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Roman was born March 26, 1938 to Mathew and Marie (Heimenz) Wacker in Morrison County, MN.
